The Independence Movement Gets Bigger

Dear Supporter,

Our campaign is now in full swing, with leaflets being delivered, events organised and letters going out to residents.

When we talk to residents on the doorstep, there is enormous interest and support for the idea of a local independent party, with very little love left for any national party.

And we are seeing this across the country too. Hundreds of councillors have resigned from Labour to become independent, and in three towns the independent group is so large it continues to run the council (sometimes in partnership with the Greens).

Burnley was first, in November, then Hastings in December and now, this week, 20 councillors in Pendle have resigned.

This just shows that it is Labour who have left us all, with such a regressive change to both their ethos and their ethics. The councillors who have left are still determined to stand up for those who most need it.

We need to take this message out to all local residents, so your help is still vital. Some of you have managed to deliver leaflets and join us canvassing, but we need more help.

Our next Mass Canvass is this Saturday April 6th in Hollington at 12noon. Can you come for an hour or so? We are meeting at the Tilekiln Community Centre on Tilebarn Road, just round the corner from Tesco.

And our friends include local artists and musicians: a surprise Benefit Gig has been arranged for next Thursday, April 11th at The Marina Fountain. A great line up including two of Hastings best bands, Chimer, and (wait for it) Borough Council!

Can you get there? Or tell your friends and family please.

We also have some great campaigns underway, on the shame of black mould in so many rented local homes, and on standing up for young people and their parents who are being ignored by our Academy schools.

More on this and details of all our great candidates next week.

See you Saturday (and Thursday?)!
